Here is a cool grouping of four items related to the hospital ship Ginnie Hopkins. The first is a CDV presumably of the Hospital Steamer Ginnie Hopkins. It is of a landscape view and appears clear and easily seen. You can clearly see U.S. Hospital on the wheel housing. The corners have been rounded and there is no backmark. However, there is no damage noted such as creases or folds, etc.

The second is a bust view CDV of a gentleman which is identified on the back in pencil as Captain James S Johnson and the backmark is shown as Mansfields City Gallery of St. Louis Missouri. The corners on this image too have been rounded and there is no damage noted, folds or creases.

The first document is on lined paper with folds noted vertically and horizontally. It measures 6 x 7.75 inches. It is written in period ink and all is very easily read. It is a handwritten discharge for Captain James. S. Johnson who served on the Ginnie Hopkins. It is dated September 12th, 1865.

The last document is also a hand written letter on lined paper with folds vertically and horizontally by a surgeon that was on the Ginnie Hopkins as well. It is also dated September 12th 1865 and is related to Captain James Johnsons discharge. Both documents are in otherwise good condition and the ink easily readable. Rare opportunity to own some unique medical and western theatre navy all in one.
