Bacon single shot bar hammer pistol with a 4inch half octagon - half round barrel. There is evenly seen moderate pitting with modeling throughout which gives the piece a dark attic gray tone. You cans till see the floral engraving on both sides of the frame. The Bacon stamp on the left and top of the barrel can be seen, but obscured by the condition of the iron. The action works and it still retains the original nipple. The walnut grips are in good condition and dark to match the rest of the gun. These were made between 1852-1858 by Bacon & Company of Norwich, CT. What's really cool is out of about 150 made, this one is serial number 2, which matches under the barrel and on the frame under the grips!!
