A very nice CDV of General Phillip Kearny with a C.D. Fredricks & Co. New York backmark. CDV also has a cancelled revenue stamp on back. A slight blemish next to his shoulder rank can be seen, but is minor.

General Kearny had a very impressive military career. He took part in several different wars including a handful of campaigns with the Chasserus d' Afrique in Northern Africa, the Mexican War (where his left arm was amputated due to a severe wound), served in Napoleon III's Imperial Guard in the Italian War and then lastly the Civil War where he was killed at the Battle of Chantilly after accidentally riding into enemy lines.
