Collins Bayonet Cut Down To Knife
Item #: FDR17-118
Click on an image to enlarge
A nice Collins saber bayonet with Collins stamp and '1861' date on the opposite side. The total length is 20.5 inches with the blade measuring just under 16 inches. This bayonet, most likely for a Mississippi Rifle, has had the latch removed and the blade shortened. The iron has a nice dark tone throughout with mild surface modeling noted. The brass handle has a nice mellow pleasing patina. This is the perfect size for a side knife or make shift Bowie. It's just a really cool piece and has that Southern feel to it. In fact, every time I lay it down, it points North.
