Letter written on 5.5-inch by 7.5-inch paper folded (four page letter). Smaller than the other letters so mentioned here for exactness. This one is dated December 27th, 1862, Camden, Arkansas. The letter isn't as legible as the other letters, but is what you would expect from some Confederate letters I have seen so many of. The front page is the worse and even it can be made out if time is spent on it. The last three pages are better and can be made out. With some time, this one can be transcribed. There are a few small tears throughout, however the letters remains intact in its entirety. The content appears to be consistent with the others in missing his wife, the tribulations of life on the march, etc. And in fairness, I haven't sat down and really worked on it hard. |
