M1860 Ames Cavalry Saber dated 1863 in attic found condition. The blade is in good condition with a few flea bites noted. No pitting otherwise. On the ricasso you can clearly see the 'US / LH / 1863' and on the reverse is the faint partial stamp of the Ames scroll stamp. The brass guard has a dark patina throughout. Still retains the leather washer.

The grip has the wood handle remaining only with no leather remaining. The scabbard is present and fits the sword nice and tight. It has a dark tone throughout with very minor pitting noted. Its nothing outside of what you would expect to see in a sword in this condition. The only apology is that one of the rings is missing on the scabbard. For a mid-war production cavalry saber, this one has stories to tell.
