Here is a naval officer's sword not often encountered. The M1852 Tomes Sons naval sword is in aged condition with a deep rich patina in the guard. On the basket you can see USN. The pommel cap has a nice eagle motif surrounded by stars. The ray skin wrap is tight as is the wire. The blade does have some pitting noted with a modeled gray look throughout. In the light you can see the etchings on the blade. It measures right at 28-inches in length.

The original scabbard is an infantry style scabbard and not the one issued with this sword. You can see that the brass mounts have a nice mellow patina that matches the sword fairly well. The leather is supple. The only apology here, besides the wear, is the split between the bottom mount and the drag. Very cool sword overall.
