M1860 N.J. Marked Naval Cutlass
Item #: FDR18-144
A very nice looking M1860 Naval Cutlass by Ames dated 1861. The blade is clean with no pitting noted at all. The stampings are nice and easily legible with the Ames scroll, with an N.J. stamped on one side of the ricasso and on the other an 'anchor' over 1861. The brass has a nice mellow patina throughout. There is no leather or brass wire present on the grip.
The leather scabbard is in remarkable condition and is the style that is riveted. It still retains the brass baldric stud. No damage or repairs to the scabbard noted.
